Ten thousand, six hundred (10,600) jasmine flowers and three hundred and sixty-three (363) roses make Eau de Joy one of the most expensive woman’s fragrances in the world! “The heart beats passionately in pure and sweetly fresh jasmine notes, seductive and balmy spicy and darkened iris root. The base whiffs with sensual musk, warm and milky-powdery sandalwood, with mild musky civet tones”, a description used by Joy Jean Patou perfume https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Jean-Patou/Joy-1436.html. Descriptions are similar to fine wine promotions.  Wine and spirits industries describe fine wine promotions using sense of smell or fragrance in the whole emotional experience, add in sense of taste, ambience, place (terrier), labor (organic planting, hand picking), scarcity and voila- $1,200.00 sale.  I once had a customer so wrapped up in a story about a German wine. We were both sitting at the winery (from my own experience), I described the day, ambience taste, smell and luxury. The customer then ordered a dozen of that wine. When I went to get the wines and there were NONE on hand, after that experience, before I make a sell, I make sure I have it, regardless how scarce it is! 

Only fifty bottles of Joy fragrance are made per year and sell for about $850.00 dollars an ounce. I remember paying around $500.00 an ounce in Paris twenty years ago which was difficult to shell out.  It was the experience I sought and I instinctively knew I had a newfound treasure when I held joy in my hands.  At age twenty -one, I liken my experience to a professional baseball player, sitting, waiting for my “Go See” amongst the most beautiful women in the world.  All came from all parts of the world to descend on the Paris couture scene.  Money came quick and in beaucoup!  I just had to have a Joy Fragrance Candle AND Eau de Joy Fragrance!

The concept of pouring water of joy over me before setting out on “Go Sees” gave me a sense of well-being, success, good fortune and contributes to keeping that professional agency model demeanor for modeling jobs here and in foreign countries. In order to do my Model work  it is necessary to compete and obtain creative jobs I want.

My Joy Fragrance candle is broken like many parts of life now.  

Covid made me think about loss of joy so I brought my candle out of my drawer to reminisce the water of joy in my life. Last week, my Joy Fragrance candle is broken by one of my rescue cats. The fragrance is amazing, still emitting scents of jasmine and roses.  No protecting now with the base shattered, I’ve been cleaning my office and found an old light fixture destined for Goodwill.  I took out the golden and black light fixture, turned it upside down and my candle fits perfect!  Now I will find a new topper somewhere amongst the water of joy. 

I kept the destroyed label from the back of the joy candle.  I told my family about this fragrance candle that the cats broke and how I had to buy it when I was in Paris.  I didn’t know what the value is today. Then on to a treasure hunt to find my one-ounce of Eau de Joy.  Found it!  Although now, I can’t get the lid off to find my joy! “Usually the culprit is just dried-up perfume that needs to be either mechanically or chemically removed/dissolved in order for the cap to resume its original function, i.e. keeping the contents air-tight and not playing with your nerves-strings.”

The first part that powers up the prices of the most expensive perfumes and often luxury products is marketing and hard sell. Perfume makers spend a lot of money with advertising agencies for brand identity.  A brand strategy creates a new emotional story around a product or service.

Being a model, of course I just had to have that fragrance, Water of Joy!!  Living in Paris in the winter proved depressing to me, rain, rain, rain and going back to my 700-year-old apartment with a tiny heater it never ceased to be cold.  After awhile that first year, I made so much money, I quit work and partied every night for about three months in the winter.  Paris at night, the rainy nights shimmering off the 1910 art deco city lights were fantastic!  So with that fragrance, money from fashion model shoot, modeling jobs and the ability to bring joy front and center brought me joy!  After that one winter, I came home during the off-season.  Best to keep working.  I can take one little sniff of my Joy Candle today and that sniff brings me back to Paris winter rainy nights walking home with my two Canadian model roommates from the Club where Rolling Stones invited us!

I didn’t get any hand modeling because I had a wrist bone flaw.  I came home from Paris one off-season, saw my Dad’s wrist, and exclaimed, “It’s you that gave me this flaw!"  I am unable to get any hand modeling work because of this wrist.”  He responded, “Well, look at from my perspective, “I had to care for whatever was presented!”  Seeing from the perspective of others, including my models and talent, has stayed with me in my business dealings. 

Modeling jobs and models booking and other creative jobs may involve all types of Actors and Models.

Although now, I can’t get the lid off to find my Eau De Joy!  It’s stuck.  Human nature sometimes allows all of us to be stuck in one spot at one time or another, action and the timing may be confusing.  I think if we approach each day as our last day by taking a brief moment with empathy, appreciation for hard work, quality and our own limits, getting the lid off Eau de Joy comes and by using investigating, steadily, slowly, patience, endurance, greatness, boldness, confidence, gifts, potential, blessed, equipped, believing and my own shear will-power.
